Digging is hard, and it is easy to find yourself wandering at 5 am after several weeks of intensive hard work: “Why?'”

But then you go back to work.

Before the work becomes overwhelming, it’s time for a second breakfast. The two staples are bread and watermelon, and we don’t get sick of them.

Sometimes, there is cooking done on the site, or somebody brings homemade, freshly prepared delicacies. The food always tastes better when shared between friends.

Archaeologists keep finding pottery everywhere. This falafel sandwich needs a pottery tag 🙂

Some people have infectious energy, and working with them makes this job so much easier. Waking up in the middle of the night, freezing morning winds, scorching heat after breakfast, sand and dust everywhere—none of it matters when you have amazing teammates like my archaeological family from Safra.
